Uuuh, update on Friday night at the...
Let me preface by saying that co-worker 1 is Caucasion, co-worker 2 is African American second generation from Africa. This conversation really made me almost throw up. I really thought co-worker 2 was going to either hit co-worker 1 or file a formal HR complaint right then and there (which she should). And this is happening at 8pm with about 6 people on this floor and no managers/supervisors in the building. And it makes me want to go home even more...
Co-worker 1: I am sort of racist, I'll admit. But, my friends are way more racist than me.
Co-worker 2: Excuse me?
Co-worker 1: What? I'm not that bad. I had a professor in college who was a gay, black man.
Co-worker 2: Are you serious?
Co-worker 1: Yea! I went to the class.
Co-worker 2: Diversity much. (completely sarcastic)
Co-worker 1: Well, it is Chicago... a big city. There's a lot of diversity here.
Co-worker 2: Diversity, huh?
Co-worker 1: Yea, you know, like race and gender.
Co-worker 2: ... Uh... yea...
Co-worker 1: Yea, you probably know more about it than me.
Co-worker 2: Please stop talking to me.
